About Me

My name is Luca Zani.I’m a writer, critic and student based in Reading, in the United Kingdom. Reading is in the South-East of England, but there is a TfL line from Reading into central London, so I will tell you that I am based in London. My work is a mixture of creative nonfiction, personal essays, and cultural reviews, written with a liberating disregard for submission cycles and editorial constraints. It's concerned with charting the rise and fall of creative culture — with the inevitable decay, fierce protection, and constant struggle to preserve the conditions under which humans create interesting, beautiful things.I’m convinced that it’s the best time in history to be a writer. I think it’s a wonderful thing that a few hundred people might willingly sign up to have their afternoons interrupted by my work; some even give me money to do so. I find this extraordinary, and I am truly grateful to have your attention.

Projects

Alongside my personal work, I am a contributing editor at The Pett Review, a Paris-based literary magazine with which I publish regular reviews of various art forms. I am also hosting The Pett Review podcast series, a limited-run of interviews with other authors and writers.I have also worked with Exeunt on press-night theatre coverage, and have written commissioned reviews of screenings and film festivals for Optic Nerve Magazine.

Critick

I am editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Critick, which publishes essays, fiction, and poetry about art and culture.Critick is a mixture of creative nonfiction, personal essays, and cultural reviews, written with a liberating disregard for submission cycles and editorial constraints. It's concerned with charting the rise and fall of creative culture — with the inevitable decay, fierce protection, and constant struggle to preserve the conditions under which humans create interesting, beautiful things. We're currently accepting submissions. More information is available on the 'Submit' page of the magazine.
